ABOUT US
A Brief History
St. Hannah’s School was established in 1980 and officially opened in 1981 as a small kindergarten with just 24 pupils in a bungalow on Kindaruma Road near Yaya Centre. Over the years, the school steadily grew, opening its first primary school wing in 1985 at Three Dee Lane in Karen, which became the present-day Karen Campus. In 1998, the Kindaruma Road campus relocated to Ngong Road, opposite Jamhuri Exchange, forming what is now the Ngong Road Campus. By 2000, boarding facilities were introduced in Karen, and a mixed boys’ and girls’ high school was launched, admitting its pioneer students, Eric Njau and Lila Shepherd.
In the early 2000s, the school expanded its high school section, relocating the boys to Ngong Road in 2002, and then to a permanent new campus on Karen Plains Road — now the Boys Campus. The girls’ high school remained in Karen until 2013, when it moved to the newly constructed Farm Lane Campus, following the initial development of the site in 2010. Further expansion included the opening of a dedicated Early Learning Centre next to the Ngong Road campus in 2016, and the acquisition of a new property in Runda in 2023, earmarked for a new primary school. Today, St. Hannah’s stands as a multi-campus institution offering holistic education from early years to high school.
